FEC — Fiber Entrance Cabinet

The FieldSmart Fiber Entrance Cabinet (FEC) provides off-frame splicing for the central office, headend or remote hut.
The FieldSmart FEC is built on a modular platform scaling 288 fiber splices at a time.
Multiple entry/exit points allow for multiple distribution and OSP fiber sheaths to enter into the FEC from top, bottom, or sidewalls transitioning from conduit, overhead fiber tray or raised flooring. A removable splice block, holding twelve 24-fiber splice trays, allows the user access and prep away from the cabinet. Intuitive buffer tube and subunit slack routing prevents cable tie-in’s with a clockwise routing scheme to allowing quick and easy re-entry after initial deployment or to add additional capacity. The FEC can be ganged together, in modular fashion, allowing scalability up to 864 fiber splices and beyond if vertical real estate is available.
Frames

Frames are used for mounting equipment in a central office or data center application.
FieldSmart fiber distribution frames are available in 7’, 8’, or 9’ heights and in 19” and 23” widths. These seismic frames come with an unequal flange, and when used with FieldSmart fiber patch panels, provide the highest port density in the industry. Up to 1728-ports in a 7 foot frame.
- 500 pound weight capacity
- Uprights are high- strength, low alloy steel
- Front and rear of upright tapped for 12-24 screws
- Seismic rated
- Interbay cable management optional
- Frames can be ordered loaded with panels and cable management as a “rack and stack” solution
- Weco 1” hole spacing
- Unequal Flange
Troughs
3-Inch Cable Management Trough

5-Inch Cable Management Trough

Active Gear Trough

Clearfield has three types of troughs depending on the application. Slack Management Troughs contain radius spools that add additional incremental slack take-up to the fiber management system. Crossover Troughs are used when radius spools are not required.
They are simply used to cross from one side of the frame to another or to reach another frame. Active Gear Troughs are equipped with 9 radius fingers (19”) and 11 radius fingers (23”) on the open bottom. It is designed to be placed directly above or below an active gear chassis to manage slack and access of active gear cards and associated fiber ports.
Troughs are in integral part of the FieldSmart fiber management platform. When used properly, troughs provide a protected route path when running jumpers between equipment.
- Available in 3” and 5” heights
- Available in 19” and 23” mounting
- Slack Management and Active Gear Troughs are equipped with four radius spools for incremental slack take up
- Cable Management and Crossover Troughs standard with front door for additional protection and improved appearance
Slack Management Panel

Interbay cable management is part of an overall fiber management system that includes frames and troughs. In addition to incremental slack take-up, the interbay provides a route path between frames.
Interbay cable management panels are ordered to match the height of the frame. They are available in 7, 8 and 9 foot versions. End guards are available for the end of a line up to minimize potential damage to jumpers.
• 3“ radius spools protect bend radius
• Optional end guards
Miscellaneous
FxDS Frame Clamp Kit
For on-frame patch & splice application, the desire to clamp onto the frame rather than a FieldSmart FxDS Panel may be desired to address proper cable sweep from the frame into the panel. The frame clamp can also be used to manage incoming cable at an additional location on the frame when a more robust and rigid capture is required due to the O.D. size of the cable and the number of incoming cables.
6-Drawer Splice Deck/On-Frame

6-Drawer Splice Deck
The Clearfield Splice Deck is designed for customers who prefer on-frame splicing. This product provides 144 loose tube splice capacity or 432 ribbon capacity in a 6” footprint for on-frame splicing applications where a dedicated splice only footprint is desired.
Six slide out drawers providing either 24 loose-tube HSF splices or 72 ribbon splices per drawer. OSP and IFC cables enter through the back of the module into a dynamic slack take-up device, and route to splicing area of the drawer. On panel clamping kits come standard with deck. On-frame clamp kits available.
- Ability to hold 144-loose tube splices or 432 mass fusion ribbon splices in a 6“ footprint
- Available for 23” frames Integrity
- Compliant to GR-449
- RUS listed
- Industry standard splice tray
- Alternative “low profile” trays may be substituted for familiarity to splicing technicians
